Psalm 119:147

As I learn more about how the Bible is written and appreciate how it was written in a totally different language and time, I appreciate just how crazy amazing and miraculous the whole thing is.

(Almost unbelievably so, some might say.)

I can no longer feel satisfied with reading something and just shrugging, “That made no sense, ah well”.

Or worse, take what I want to get from the text in my own terms and interpret it and apply it the way I want to.

Or worst of all, the way the world wants to.

Sure, it’s complicated. But, when something is difficult for me to understand, more often than not, it’s because my mind doesn’t want to accept or submit to what my heart intuitively understands.

I’ve learned to always pause and ask first, “Why am I having such a hard time with this?”

I’ve learned to rest in God’s authority.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Sure, it’s still hard work. But, it isn’t futile work. And that just makes it so much easier.
